C4T #1

I was assigned to read the blog of Josh Stumpenhorst, who is a 6th grade Language Arts Teacher in Naperville, IL.

Post #1 (June 7,2014) You Never Know
In this post Stumpenhorst, is concerned will he make a great impact on his students learning experience in his classroom this year. Some kids come with so much baggage and responsibilities from home that they may not stand a chance to be able to even connect with the teacher in the classroom due to different learning behavior that they have. We really never know as teachers what impact you may have on a kid, that is why you should never give up on the student's learning ability.
My Comment:
Great Post!
I think it is a great accomplishment on how we can have impact on student lives in the classroom. Some kids do not have a clue how they will grasp on to information or  wondering if they will be able to achieve for that school year or anywhere. Knowing that we know that the kid's are staying focus, engaging in activities, and asking lots of questions that we have a great deal of an influence on the students learning in the classroom.

Post #2 (September 5, 2014) Because I said So
In this post, it is explaining on how we should explain to the students why they are doing this or that instead of just telling them "Because I said so". Explaining to the student's why this activity is important and how it is connecting as a learning target and also a skill. In this post, Stumpenhorst explain how students are really never explained and told what is the purpose of the activity or then it is an activity or a lesson. We as teacher or future teacher's should be more then happy to explain why we do anything as well as the thought process behind my decision to do it.
My Comment:
I agree! We should be able to explain to the students what we are teaching and why they are doing this or that project. The phrase "because i said so " should be a phrase towards parenting and not in the classroom. As a teacher, you should be able to teach and show your students plenty of examples on the purpose of what we are teaching them. As Stumpenhorst stated before "we shouldn't be doing something if we are not able to explain it"
