Blog Post #6

Project Based Learning Part 1 When we think of Project Base Learning, that is a project we do and demonstrate at the end of the lesson or by the method of which we should learn. Anthony Capps, stated that you need to create a project that will meet all the contents that they will need to know enable to complete the project. When students is subject to do a  project, they will need to an authentic audience, involving the community, and also driven by content. So as teachers, when we create or assign a project we need to create a good project to motivate them to get the content of the lesson.

Project Based Learning Part 2 Children used culture such as Afghanistan in a project. The students were very interested in this particular project. Anthony, assigned them to do a narrative script to act like they were a child in Afghanistan. The outcome of the experience was excellent, they was able to describe the food and how to make it, fashion and what type of clothes that was worn over there. However, he did have a student in the classroom that had a parent that did not want his son to do the project for Afghanistan so Anthony was able to come up with an alternative route for that one particular student. With Project Base Learning, never limit your students by giving them exactly what you want them to do.

iCurio iCurio is an online tool that serves a few different purposes. It allow student to safely search text, audio, and video. This online tool can be pulled and filtered for educational use. It allow student to store content that they find value to, also teachers can use this tool for the exact same thing. This tool and website give students practice to be well organized and learn how to teach them virtual organization.

Discovery Ed If a student is able to grasp on to information through visual learning, then they will be able to retain a lot more information or illustrate to support every text you using Discovery Ed is a great resource to use. Discovery Ed has everything like Science, Math, and Social Studies that you can possibly think of especially for teachers. This tool is a excellent resource the students are able to use this tool to research different subject and video, and also this is a great resource for teachers as well to be able to show students different topics of what they will be learning.

The Anthony-Strange Tips for Teachers Part 1 Dr. Strange made a great tip by saying if you are not a learner, then will you not be a successful educator and we have to model that behavior for other people. Anthony stated that let your work become a fun experience for you, if teachers are able to do that then we as teacher can be successful at anything we come up with. When becoming a teacher you should be able to be flexible and creative through every aspect of teaching no matter what the outcome maybe. I would say never leave a child behind without them getting a understanding of what is being taught in the classroom. Always give students interesting topics to discuss and to become focus on so they will be able to ask question and grasp information.

Use Technology Don't Teach It When using technology, now in days students or adults use technology for everything. Technology is a material that should be used and not taught. Anthony stated that his 3rd grader know how to use iMovie, whereas EDM310 class took a little bit longer to know how to use and work iMovie. That may be true in most cases however, generation and things have change. Younger kids have more access to technology then we had access in our days of growing up. I see younger kids walking around with high tech cell phones and Ipads that give them a better opportunity to learn how to work things out on their own with less help, Use technology, let your students get excited about using technology and nevertheless, don't expect them to be perfect, because it will not happen.

Additional Thoughts About The Lesson  A lesson should be 4 layers thick with 4 different topics. 1. Lesson, will your lesson that will be taught will cover everything within a year and make sure all the standards get covered. 2. Unit size, have you divided unit project that is meaningful and that is all connected in some way. 3. Week, how are you divided your week? So that everyday how are your getting things done or will you be able to reach your goal for that week, 4. Daily lesson, is how you delivering to your students which is the most important thing. All of these 4 lessons are key components to making a lesson.

Your writing is not college level. The content is OK, but your writing is unsatisfactory.

You must make an appointment with the Writing Center and go there within a week. They must notify me that they are working with you. This is a requirement! You writing does not meet college level standards.

  2. Hi Shayla,

The content in your post was good and you had some great ideas. However, like Dr. Strange pointed out, there are a few grammar errors. It made the post hard to follow at times, but there's nothing that can't be fixed. I agree with your stance on technology. Students using technology is not going to be perfect, but it will be a great tool to further their education.
