Blog Post 5 Part B
Final PLN
My PLN has tremendously grown in my EDM 310 class. In the beginning of the semester, my only PLN was Symbaloo. Not only do I have Symbaloo, I am able to network with people across Mobile County and all over the world. I am able to read teachers and students' blogs, comment, and also receive a response back. I have people and educators who have help me out throughout this course. I have different people to follow me on twitter to use different technique and tools that will be useful in the classroom. I thought this class was going to be hard and stressful, but turned out to be one of the best classes taken thus far. I gained a lot of knowledge in this class and was able to expand my Personal Learning Network.

Every year we talk about why we wear poppies for Remembrance Day.
I tell my kindergarten kids that we wear them to honor people who risk getting hurt or dying so that we can be peaceful.
We also make poppies.

The ScanSnap SV600 is a beautifully designed scanner with high quality pictures that is very easy to use. The scanner would be perfect in the library for students and teachers to use who need to scan parts of books or their projects. The ability to share easily with Google and Evernote is a huge plus for me and I see this Scanner getting hours of use the rest of this year. The ScanSnap SV600 is an archivist dream and librarian's best friend.
My Response
Nicholas,
I enjoy looking at the video on SV600 scanner. I am impress on so many things you can do on this scanner. This will be a great tool to use in the classroom. This will make teaching so much easier to wear you can just scan the pages out the book and upload to your smart board. Great Post!

List of Problems:
- Prospective teachers should have better academic training.
- How teachers should be rewarded.
I agree that teachers that are unqualified is a major Problem in the United States. If we hold our teachers to a higher standard such as doctors or lawyers, there would be less than 23 states that provides solid math preparation. Many states across the U.S. are unable to provide a good math program that prepares students as well as some of the top performing nations. I do agree that math is one of the hardest subjects in school to learn as well as to teach. I also believe there should be more training for prospective teachers, especially for the teachers that are not a Math Education Major.
I do agree that seniority obligations are a problem in the United States. Teachers should be able to keep their job based off of effectiveness and not seniority. The true reward for teachers is seeing your students exceed well in the classroom. I agree that some states should give teachers raises based on students test scores to give the teacher some type of urgency in delivering instruction. Teachers should be responsible for students learning ability and how much they succeed throughout the class.

At school I like playing Mine craft at recess.
My Response:
Alex,
I am glad that you enjoy playing at recess. Do you mind telling me Mine craft is? What kind of game is that and how do you play it? I enjoy hearing from you.

I really enjoyed this project I liked this project because i didn't know this is how they made this kind of stamps. all the drawing and the and cutting and all the precautions. for example the amount of ink and the amount of time to roll it on the block is really hard. cutting is also hard I thought it would be like cutting butter. but this was probably on of my favorite projects.
My Response:
Derek,
I enjoyed reading your post about printmaking. I did not know what printmaking was my self until you explained it to me. Great Job!

The first quarter of middle school is great so far. No late assignments, no logs signed, and no detentions.
But I’m just starting middle school as a novice. The first week you are stupefied with all of the work and books. But once you get going your ecstatic or once you feel calm and tranquil you fit in. You have to get to know all of the new teachers which takes a couple days or a week. We have a copious of teachers. All of the teachers are fun and silly. All of the students are nice and funny. You get to know them all very good and become best friends.
My goals for the next quarter are, no late assignments, good grades, to not get my log signed, and no detentions. I hope to have a good first year in middle school.
My Response:
Brayden,
My name is Shayla, I attend the University of South Alabama. I enjoy reading your post. It seems like you are a very good student, with excellent vocabulary. Make sure you do all homework assignments, study, and turn everything in on time. If you master those three things, you should have no problem this school year.

What Did I Leave Out?
Read the article, 5 ways to teach students the use technology safety. Explain and describe 5 ways to have parents involve with students and the safety of technology.
1. Encourage Parent Leadership.
Gather a group of parents for a meeting, such as a PTO, PTA, or other parent communities at your school. Discuss with parents about safe use online for students to use at school and at home. Also, invite a guest speaker to kick things off in the meeting by discussing different resources on internet safety.
2. Communicate regularly to parent communities.
Explain to the parents how you use technology in the classroom, and how you ensure the students how technology and how to use internet safely in the classroom. This would be a good way to discuss at an Open House or Parent-Teacher night.
3. Be clear with parents on how appropriate technology use is enforced.
Teachers should enforced how appropriate technology use should be enforced in the classroom, and how it could affect students school record and how it would be handle if technology is use inappropriately. Teachers should also enforce how personal use of technology can or cannot be use on school grounds. All of this should be discussed and reviewed at the beginning of the school year and signed by the parent.
4. Be creative
Help parents and students use technology together. We want students to be successful with technology use. Find ways to use technology with students and parents through school driven activities, fund raisers, and group project contests. We should not limit the discussion to being safe and responsible with technology.
5. Recognize the positive use of technology.
Technology can be a little bit frightening, especially if we was introduce to it later on in life. As adults, we cannot sidestep our obligation to make technology a tool our kids use safely and responsible. Parents should be encourage the right behavior with their kids at home, so students will be more efficient with the safety and use of technology.

In the first blog post, I read was how to support clarifying questions in common core classrooms. Instead of accepting an answer as merely right or wrong, we should push students to support their answer with evidence by asking clarifying questions.
My Comment:
Mathew,
I think this is a great post! We should challenge student’s more with supporting question’s behind the answer’s they have given. Some tips that I would use for asking question’s would be: -Where did you get that answer from? -How So? I hope this will help a little.
(For the second post, the teacher did not leave a up to date blog, so I had to scroll down to an old post he posted in September)

Assistive Technology
My Blog Post:
In the video, Teaching a Mom What Her Deaf/Blind Child is learning on the iPad is video of a teacher giving instruction to a parent on how to work an iPad if they were deaf or blind. The teacher says, the parent should place his/her hand across the icon and each one she would click, a voice over will say the icon’s names out loud. The parent would also have to use four fingers and turn it like a knob to be able to turn it into typing mode. Standard typing is when you are moving your fingers across the screen and the voice over says the letters out loud. Once you double tap, it will appear on the note pad. Most people prefer the touch typing mode. You are still in typing mode, where you move your fingers across the screen and voice over reads out the letters to you. Instead of double tapping a letter, you should hold the letter down and lift your finger, the letter will appear on the note pad.
The alternative source she looked up was: NCLD, Assistive technology can help students with many different learning disabilities. The assistive technology can help them become more independent through school and throughout life. Technology has apps to help students with Dysgraphia and Writing skills. For example, the video I watched was able to explain everything out loud. This app can make the writing process a little bit easier and fun. Another assistive piece of technology would be a keyboard with built in accessibility on standard computer.

To Siri, With Love is an interesting blog post. It tells a story of a 13 year old boy with autism that asks Siri questions about everyday life and his personal interests. What a cool way to use technology. It got me thinking about the different ways Siri could be used in the classroom. This blog has a lot of great ideas on it. It mentions IPEVO Whiteboard or the Belkin Stage app. These two things can help during science class to capture and annotate what the students capture under a microscope. It also mentions Boogie Board. This is a small board the size of an iPhone that would be good for taking notes during class or answering questions like we used to do on smart boards. Adobe Presenter is a great tool to use in classroom. This is a great thing to use when you want to include text and pictures in a presentation or quiz during class. This could also be used when doing PBL. One of my favorite things that I found on this blog is the Belkin Tablet Stage. This is a tool that turns your ordinary iPad into a document, camera, and presentation system. This is a great way to get your monies worth out of an iPad purchased for your classroom. Speaking of iPad, they are mentioned everywhere on this blog. iPad is a really neat tool to use when teaching. It lets the students independently do work and play learning games on the apps that adhere to the lesson being taught. Great source!
Teachhub.com is my second source. Teachhub, This was a really cool read. Not only does it give you different technology you can use in the classroom, it also gives you different ways you can use it and how it helps the children. PowerPoint is a very common tool. In the post it mentions ways you can use PowerPoint as a game show review. I think that would be a really cool thing to use PowerPoint for. It also mentions blogs and twitter as being a good source of technology in the classroom. Blogs can be used instead of diaries. Blogs are also helpful to see how well the students have progressed overtime. Twitter can be used as a discussion or for a summary of material. Creating a class webpage is a tool that can also be used in the classroom. It also mentions that students can create a film on a computer. This is a great way to implement PBL. Doing this and having the kids present the films, are a good way to use technology.

Waking up, you open your eyes, stretch, and hear the bubbling sounds of the coffee pot. Like me you may turn on your radio to listen to the sounds of Nickel Creek or the music of your preference. Communicating thoughts and ideas let alone learning becomes seemingly impossible. However, in this video it outlines the tools used to help in assisting hearing and visually impaired students learn. These tools provide opportunity and hope for these impaired students improve their chances of having successful futures. Their realities are next to impossible for those without the disabilities to imagine. With assistive learning tools it enhances learning and improves the students’ capabilities and chances at excelling. The barriers that seemed to have blocked their path now are almost non-existent due to the technological advances. It is our responsibility as teachers to encourage, enlighten, and help enrich the education for any and all students-with or without disabilities.

Students are unique and come with a wide variety of learning styles and capabilities. It is up to the teacher to be able to identify and adapt to their learning needs. All of this can be accomplished through technology. This is a great tool to not segregate students from the regular learning process but to help them participate with the class as a whole. Assistive learning devices are not just flashy gadgets; they can be something as simple as a wheelchair to help the student access the classroom physically. Hearing aids, glare-reduction screens, Braille note-taking devices, and voice recognition software are just a few examples of assistive learning technology. A common tool used in schools to help in assistive learning would be voice recognition software. This would be very helpful to a teacher due to the fact that if a student is visually impaired or in not fully mobile with their extremities they can speak into the microphone and it will record his or her spoken thoughts. This would be a very helpful tool that would help a wide variety of students. Assistive learning technology is a wondrous tool that will help improve the lives of children and ignite their drive to excel in their learning capabilities.

I have chosen to research "iPad Usage For The Blind", has made tremendous stride with making sure the visually impaired and blind have access to using the iPad device. After viewing, the video, “iPad usage for the blind”, I have learned a lot about how exactly a blind person effectively navigates a iPad. Wesley Marjeus is the Access Specialist for the National Federation for the Blind. Marjeus teaches about the different devices that Apple has installed in their devices for the blind. Marjeus explains a unique service called Voice Over. Voice Over basically reads everything that is one the screen of the iPad. Voice Over not only reads what’s on the screen but, also reads books to the user as well. Voice Over helps the user to effectively navigate the iPad. Hand gestures are just as important as the Voice Over service. Hand gestures can be given as a demand over the Voice Over service. Hand gestures are used to move or remove certain icons, apps, etc.
Andreas Head is her second source. Andreas Head shares some basic information about the services that Apple has for the visually impaired. For instance, Refresh-able Braille Display is a electronic device that enables the user to write or text while using the iPad. The buttons on the device are Braille and, the device can act as a mouse while connected to the device. Another cool feature is called Bluetooth Keys. The Bluetooth keys connects with the iPad and controls the Voice Over service as well. The user should be knowledge of locating certain important keys to effectively navigate the device. There are a number of assistive technology that is available for educators to use inside of the classroom. These are just a few to name a lot. Technology is making a powerful stance to all rims of it’s users.

What can we learn about teaching and learning from these teachers?
"Back to the Future"
Brian Crosby the educator, discuss what is going on in his class and how each student has a blog in the classroom. Mr. Crosby, think he should teach his student's differently in a standard way. He has his student's to make a blog post on every project they learn throughout the class. I think this is a great idea on learning how to write summary paragraph. Mr. Crosby also discuss how he has a student in his class that has leukemia and how she is unable to attend class regularly due to her weak immune system. Crosby, decided he should Skype the student so she can stay involved in regular class discussion. I like how Mr. Crosby honor his student's when they do a great job in school work and how he make sure every student is learning and understanding the material.
Blended Learning Cycle
In this video, Paul Anderson talk about how Blended Learning Cycle is use in the classroom and also on Science Projects. Anderson discus the five E's throughout the video: Engage, Explore, Explain, Expand, and Evaluate. He also discuss in the video the six parts to his Blended Learning Cycle:
1. Ask a question
2. Investigate and Experiment
3. Have student''s to watch a video
4. Elaborate
5. Make sure student's understand video/ Review
6. Quiz/Summary
"Making Thinking Visible"
Mark Church, make the student's think and learn throughout the classroom discussion. The student's in the classroom watched a video called "Early Human Beginnings" and were split up into small groups. Mark, ask the student's come up with a headline on what was learned in the video. Once the group comes up with a headline they will be able to present in class, and he will hang it up throughout the classroom.
"Super Digital Citizen"
In this video Sam Pane, a 5th grade teacher discuss in class on how to use the internet safely. He explained to the student's the responsibilities on how to use the internet safely. He came up with a project, which the student's had to come up with a superhero of not being A good digital citizen. The student's was also instructed on doing a Gallery Walk, which is walking around the classroom and viewing different student's ideas. I like how Sam ask the student's a question and had them talk among their group. This will make it seem to the students it is more meaningful.
Project Based Learning
In this video, it talks about how three teachers use Project Base Learning by blending History and English together. By doing this the teachers were able to make the classes longer, which helps the teachers teach more materials. Students are able to make their projects better with the extended time that the teachers are given them. It gives the students a deeper understanding of standards they are suppose to be learning.

Project #14
For Project 14, our group decided to do a lesson plan for a high school special education class. Math is the subject that we chose. In the duration of a week the students will be able to count money and use it effectively in their everyday life. This is a math lesson, but we have also incorporated a life skill. The lesson starts off with an introduction to money and the different values. With the introduction, we added a fun YouTube video on counting money. Money Song. On the second and third day of the lesson, we are going to give the students a worksheet as well as allowing them to play money counting games on their iPad.Online Games. Work Sheets. On the fourth day, the students will play a grocery shopping game to apply the money counting to life events. We found this game online, it seems to be adaptable to different levels of hardness which is good for a special education classroom. Games.
The class will end with a collaborative project. The students are going to be assigned to groups of four. They will have 20 dollars to spend ($5 each), they will work as a team to pick four items that they can buy for less than 20 dollars. We will have this formed online so the students can do this on the iPad. PBL. Throughout the week the students will receive fake money, according to their behavior, to spend at the end of the week in the treasure box. This is a great way to see what the children have learned from the lesson while being rewarded for good behavior. Depending on the level of classroom I get, I will have to make accommodations to this lesson. After starting this lesson plan, I found out how hard it was to form a special education lesson without a class. When forming the lesson I will have to consider the children in the classroom.

First Grader's in Mrs. Cassidy Class
Summary of the Video:
Mrs. Cassidy First grade class was showing different techniques on blogging and how to blog. The student's were able to demonstrate their blogging skills and work online. They are able to meet different people around the world, in a safe way. The student's was able to explain how you should only use your first name and not your last name, and how you should always say nice thing's when commenting on someone else blog. The student's also use their blogs as online portfolio's for their work.
Video 1 Video 2 Video 3
Watching this video shared a lot of valuable information. Mrs. Cassidy has been blogging for five years now. She think this is a great technique in her classroom. She explain's in the video how parent's think this is a great tool, and a way to keep up with their child's learning throughout the classroom. The student's really like the use of technology and how they are able to use it in the classroom. The student's love blogging and showing off their work to other student's across the world. Mrs. Cassidy explain's also they she keep her student's safe by telling them not to post their last name, only first. Also, she explains to her student's how it is not safe to post picture's of themselves online. In my classroom, I want to be able to use the different technique's like Mrs. Cassidy with different ways of using technology. My student's will be able to use technology and learning to blog frequently in the classroom. I think all future teacher's can use a pointer or two from Mrs. Cassidy video on how important technology is in the classroom.

When I was born I didn’t know what was going on around me but, when I grew older all I can remember was me, delivering food to this old lady when I was one or two years old. I turned three on 2006, August 28 that year was very sad because that’s when my mom (Teisa) past away. She was buried at maungarei memorial cemetery.
My Post:
Jessica,
It was such a pleasure for me to read your blog post on you growing up in Togan. I am so sorry to hear about your mother's passing, I know that was very hard to deal with. I am curious what did you see coming off the plane, please hurry and reply.

Since my mom past away I went to Togan with my moms dad sister Keleni. She came to New Zealand for my moms funeral when the funeral was finish my Grandpa Kaleti asked her sister Keleni if she could look after me and she said “yes’’ so that’s how I went to Tonga. On the airplane I was sitting next to the window I saw plain white clouds and blue sky and a bright sunny sun.
During the airplane I felt like I had butterflies in my stomach. Keleni said to me that we are here I was so excited then all you can feel is the plane gently landing on the rocky concrete. When we hopped out of the plane I saw...TO BE CONTINUED

Seven Essential for Project Based Learning
The seven essential for project based learning is: A Need to Know, A driven question, Student Voice and Choice, 21st Century Skills, Inquiry and Innovation, Feedback and Revision, and A Publicity Product.
A Need To Know- As teachers, we can influence student's content by lunching a project with a "entry event"that gain interest and initiating questioning.
A driven Question- A good driven question capture the heart of project which gives students a sense of purpose or challenge.
Student Voice and Choice- This element of project base learning is the key of making a project that is meaningful to students and give them a chance to voice their opinions.
21st Century Skills- A project should give students to build 21st century skills and collaboration, communication, collaboration, and the use of technology.
Inquiry and Innovation- Student's find project base learning more meaningful if they conduct real inquiry. Which does not mean finding information in books or websites and pasting it onto a poster. In real inquiry, students follow a trail that begins with their own questions, leads to a search for resources and the discovery of answers, and often ultimately leads to generating new questions, testing ideas, and drawing their own conclusions.
A Publicity Product- Schoolwork is more meaningful when it's not done only for the teacher or the test. When students present their work to a real audience, they care more about its quality.
Project Base Learning for teacher
In this video, we are given sever different examples of driven question and how we can use them in the classroom. Students and as well as teacher's have many different resources that that have available to them. This video show different types of skill and learning techniques that they will use in different projects. As teachers, we should not teach but set ground rules for each lesson they learn.
Project Based Learning for Physical Education
Reading this article this is a great example of project based learning, Reading this article it explains how the student's are able to come up with their own fitness routine to be able to involve their friends so they will be able yo get involved. I think this is a great article. because it will give students of sense of what great routines and fitness strategies that would be good for their body so they they can stay healthy in the long run.
Ketchup Bottle Case
This was a very interesting engaging video that I saw, I like how the student's came up with a problem about ketchup and was actually really to solve it. Even though, it was most difficult with the project that they came up with, they still was manage to solve it together. They was able to prove to the teacher's and student's that this was a great example of PBL and how you can use in anywhere.
What motivates students
In this video is from many different student's in this video. I like this video, because the student's explain what motivates them in school and how they will be able to achieve their goals in future life. One student stated what motivates him is his teacher and how she praise him for good work and the different accomplishment he has made in the classroom. The student states that make's him feel real good and motivated. If the student's does good in the classroom they will be rewarded with candy or they will be able to go out side and walk around (recess). This was the best video I have viewed so far.

C4T Summary #2
C4T #2 Bill Genereux
Blog Post
Bill Genereux most recent blog post that was written on October 13, 2014 was about how his student's that is in his digital media class created an uncut film from the movie "Star Wars". Star Wars had a audience suggestion to where they would choose a couple of scene for consideration to put in their next movie. Bill submitted a couple scenes, with one including his son that was chosen for one of the selection. My response was
Bill,
I think this was a great uncut movie that you did on “Stars Wars”. I did not know that the movie could be so interesting and unique. That was cute how your son was biting into that rib like that, I enjoyed watching the film and learning from it.
The second most recent post that was written on June 28, 2014 was about how girl's push away from math and science because they are not influence enough to work outside their limit. This post is saying how kid's do not go outside enough to explore and use their hands, especially girls. My response was
Bill,
I think this is a great video to use on how females don’t take enough time out to go outside and explore the words. We often judge females of not being able to do a man’s job, when really females can do better. We have a lot of females that are interested in Math or Science but few only take this offer up in college, due to not enough exploring when they was in grade school. Educators should learn to take kids outside to be able to explore the world and be able to get they hands dirty a little. Parents should allow kids to be able to think outside the box instead of being afraid because kids do listen rather you know it or not. Great post, topic, and video!

Implications and Teaching Opportunities for Camera Use in Teaching and Learning
PART A
After viewing Zogby Analytics, using smartphone and tablets could be a major impact on using these device's in the classroom. Before I introduce smartphone's are tablet's to be used in the classroom I would like to know if every student in the classroom know's how to work each device. Most likely student's are more technology friendly then teacher's are when it comes to smartphone's and tablets. This will be a great access in the classroom for student's to enhance learning abilities and become more technologically advanced.
Using technology in the classroom would be a great asset to connect with parent's. We will be able to send email's to connect with parent's and update them on what is going on in the classroom. Parent's will be able to view their child's grades and progress throughout the classroom. I will also create a blog page with up to date information and also FAQ's with my personal email, for parent's that have any question's or concern's that may need to be addressed.
PART B
As an educator, I will allow my student's to use their smartphone or tablet for educational purposes only. I am currently going to school for Secondary Health Education, so using their smart phone they will be able to do group projects by doing minor exercise routine and timing themselves off their phone or tablet. We will also download different app's from their tablet to like the skeleton system and different help topics so student's will be able to use tool as a study guide. Student's can also use their smartphone's or tablet's to be able to create a blog in the classroom and upload different assignment's and group project that is require throughout the classroom.

Blog Post #8
Randy Pausch's Last Lecture was by far one of the best video's I have seen thus far. Pausch's talked about three important thing's that caught my attention: (1)Childhood dream's (2) Helping Other's (3) and Lesson Learned. He teaches us no matter how hard life maybe we are still able to reach our dreams no matter what.
The most important topic to me was when he talked about the "Head Fake", basically student's are thinking they are learning one particular thing when they are actually learning multiple things at one time. What I learned from this video is that our critics are our motivators. When no one is critiquing you is when you need to be worried if you are doing a good job or not. Pausch's has been through a lot of trials and tribulation with his health problems. Pausch's has not giving up on his dreams, if anything he has been motivated after everything he has been through. I notice he does not use his health problems as a excuse and he do not want people to have self pity for him either. He continue to pushed for his dreams so he can eventually inspire other's.
I believe Randy Pausch's is a true advocate of Project Base Learning he explain's and gives a lot of examples of PBL in his video. Being a teacher, this is a great way to teach your student's different assignments and projects that way you will be able to teach to the student's and also learn from the feedback that they give you from what they learned. Once again, this was a great video to view and I think Randy Pausch is a great leader for teacher's throughout the world.

Blog Post #7 How Do We Become Learner's
As a future educator, it is my duty and my expectation to learn different technology and new learning material. I want to be able to make learning fun and enjoyable for my students.
My Strength's: I love learning new thing's to be able to share with other's. I am open to new information so I can be able to teach my student's new and broader things that is going on with the curriculum. I think have an open mind is the best solution to learning new materials to be able to teach the students.
My Weakness: I would say I am not broad and computer friendly when it comes to learning and
teaching technology. I believe everything is done old fashion like looking information up in the text book and studying and writing out definition for each chapter. I need to learn how to be computer friendly and get use to learning to use blogs and other different learning style website that would be useful to teach to my student's.

In the video, How to make an audio QR. Qr code and a audio Qr code is just like making tape recording. It's basically the same thing except it is done on a computer. Teacher's can be able record assignments and also read books so student's can be able to follow alone. This is a great tool for beginners learns that have a hard time and some that struggle with reading and other difficult learning styles. Here are the instruction's on learning how to record your own Audio QR:
1. Go to and click "record" to record your voice.
2. Once you done recording, hit the stop button.
3. Save recording, and bring up the URL.
4. Copy the URL, and paste it to the address bar.
5. Once you paste it, you are going to "Create QR Code" and you will have your own code.
6. Right click, and copy the image of your QR code.
7. Paste the image to a Word Document
This is a great tool to be able to interact with student's parents as long as they have them a free QR
code. In the video, iPad Reading Center the student learn how to work their iPad by setting up their own video and learn how to record themselves. This is a great tool for student's be able to video tape themselves reading, and listen to see if they have made any mistakes. I love how the teacher walks around the classroom to encourage her student's that she is listening to make sure they are on the right track. This is a great listening tool to see if student's will be able to catch their mistakes and learn to correct them. In the video, Poplet this is another great tool that can be based off Project Base Learning. This great tool help's student's to stay organize and also look up information that they can later go back and search. This tool help them to read a book on the iPad and also teach them how to type and match pictures with the story.
In the video, Alabama Virtual Library this is a friendly site to be able to use and look up different search engines. The student's can be able too look up the information and watch movie clip's and fill out the activity worksheet that they have for that lesson. They will start adding sentences by drawing a picture of what they learn they will also have to write one sentence for each picture or clip that they watch. In the video, Build A Board In Discovery Education is a video on Discovery Education in the classroom. This friendly tool allows student to research information, images and different videos. Listening to the video I was able to create my own board:
1. Go to the Discovery Education website, and register with a user name and password.
2. Click on "Board Builder".
3. Choose background and title, click on continue.
4. Add.
5. Create Board.
This tool will allow students to add title's and picture's to their Discovery Education database about their topic. This a great tool for student's to be able to look up information, video's and pictures to create their own board.
In the video, Board Builder Project the student's had to create a board builder project and present it to the class. The student's were not shy at all they were able to show and describe where they got their pictures and resources from. Also, they were able to tell us why they was raising money for "The Haven". They also impressed me with their large vocabulary word's that they presented in their presentation. In the video, Using iMovie and the ABV in kindergarten is a YouTube conversation video between Dr. Strange, Elizabeth and Daphne. This video is about how kindergarten student's write scripts and use iMovie trailers at ages 5 and 6. Elizabeth talks about AVL, and how you can log on and teach student's basic information and research. This is a FREE site that student's can pull up information and learn from. Many resources are available for students, such as the dictionary, encyclopedia, and also library references. Last but not least, in the video We All Become Learners discusses how teachers teach student's and student's teaches teacher's. So basically everyone becomes learners and teachers. Padlet, is great tool that can be used as Project Based Learning. The teacher use Padlet to post question's on the board that will be answered from the student's. With this great tool, everyone is able to learn and help each other with information that they may not know.

C4K #3 September Summary
Great Presentation,
Shayla McCorvey
Ava, Nebraska, 4th grade student wrote a blog post on "Pizza ice cream is awesome because you can freeze it or you let it melt on the plate. You can also freeze it into ice cubes. My response was Ava, I have never heard of Pizza Ice Cream, how does it taste? What made you come up with a interesting food topic? Maybe this is a recipe I can try one of these days, are you willing to give me more information on Pizza Ice Cream?
Avery, Massachusetts, 5th grade student wrote a blog post on "I love the teachers. The teachers are nice!" My response was "Hi Avery, You are so sweet so say such a wonderful thing. I am currently going to college to be an Educator. I always wanted to be a teacher when I was a child, I use to play school while my younger sister would pretend she was the student. What is so special to you about your teacher that makes her so special and nice? Do you want to be a teacher? If not, what do you want to become when you get older? Can't wait to hear from you.

Project Based Learning Part 1 When we think of Project Base Learning, that is a project we do and demonstrate at the end of the lesson or by the method of which we should learn. Anthony Capps, stated that you need to create a project that will meet all the contents that they will need to know enable to complete the project. When students is subject to do a project, they will need to an authentic audience, involving the community, and also driven by content. So as teachers, when we create or assign a project we need to create a good project to motivate them to get the content of the lesson.
Project Based Learning Part 2 Children used culture such as Afghanistan in a project. The students were very interested in this particular project. Anthony, assigned them to do a narrative script to act like they were a child in Afghanistan. The outcome of the experience was excellent, they was able to describe the food and how to make it, fashion and what type of clothes that was worn over there. However, he did have a student in the classroom that had a parent that did not want his son to do the project for Afghanistan so Anthony was able to come up with an alternative route for that one particular student. With Project Base Learning, never limit your students by giving them exactly what you want them to do.
iCurio iCurio is an online tool that serves a few different purposes. It allow student to safely search text, audio, and video. This online tool can be pulled and filtered for educational use. It allow student to store content that they find value to, also teachers can use this tool for the exact same thing. This tool and website give students practice to be well organized and learn how to teach them virtual organization.
Discovery Ed If a student is able to grasp on to information through visual learning, then they will be able to retain a lot more information or illustrate to support every text you using Discovery Ed is a great resource to use. Discovery Ed has everything like Science, Math, and Social Studies that you can possibly think of especially for teachers. This tool is a excellent resource the students are able to use this tool to research different subject and video, and also this is a great resource for teachers as well to be able to show students different topics of what they will be learning.
The Anthony-Strange Tips for Teachers Part 1 Dr. Strange made a great tip by saying if you are not a learner, then will you not be a successful educator and we have to model that behavior for other people. Anthony stated that let your work become a fun experience for you, if teachers are able to do that then we as teacher can be successful at anything we come up with. When becoming a teacher you should be able to be flexible and creative through every aspect of teaching no matter what the outcome maybe. I would say never leave a child behind without them getting a understanding of what is being taught in the classroom. Always give students interesting topics to discuss and to become focus on so they will be able to ask question and grasp information.
Use Technology Don't Teach It When using technology, now in days students or adults use technology for everything. Technology is a material that should be used and not taught. Anthony stated that his 3rd grader know how to use iMovie, whereas EDM310 class took a little bit longer to know how to use and work iMovie. That may be true in most cases however, generation and things have change. Younger kids have more access to technology then we had access in our days of growing up. I see younger kids walking around with high tech cell phones and Ipads that give them a better opportunity to learn how to work things out on their own with less help, Use technology, let your students get excited about using technology and nevertheless, don't expect them to be perfect, because it will not happen.
Additional Thoughts About The Lesson A lesson should be 4 layers thick with 4 different topics. 1. Lesson, will your lesson that will be taught will cover everything within a year and make sure all the standards get covered. 2. Unit size, have you divided unit project that is meaningful and that is all connected in some way. 3. Week, how are you divided your week? So that everyday how are your getting things done or will you be able to reach your goal for that week, 4. Daily lesson, is how you delivering to your students which is the most important thing. All of these 4 lessons are key components to making a lesson.

Blog Post #5 Part 1
Personal Learning Network, PLN is an informal learning network that consists of the people a learners interact with and derives knowledge. A PLN, a person makes a personal connection with another person with specific intent that some type of learning will occur because of that connection. Most learning connections are made through social networks and blogging sites. Teachers, use this tool at it's best to get their problems solved and also become better educators.
I was working with my Personal Learning Network on the website Symbaloo. I like how the website is setup, and so easy to work with and maneuver in a timely matter. You can set up all of your social networks that you use on a regular day basis (for example: Facebook, twitter, instagram), and you can also put a Google search engine at the top just in case you need to look up specific information. I can also add my G mail account in order for me to have quicker access to my email.

C4T #1
I was assigned to read the blog of Josh Stumpenhorst, who is a 6th grade Language Arts Teacher in Naperville, IL.
Post #1 (June 7,2014) You Never Know
In this post Stumpenhorst, is concerned will he make a great impact on his students learning experience in his classroom this year. Some kids come with so much baggage and responsibilities from home that they may not stand a chance to be able to even connect with the teacher in the classroom due to different learning behavior that they have. We really never know as teachers what impact you may have on a kid, that is why you should never give up on the student's learning ability.
My Comment:
Great Post!
I think it is a great accomplishment on how we can have impact on student lives in the classroom. Some kids do not have a clue how they will grasp on to information or wondering if they will be able to achieve for that school year or anywhere. Knowing that we know that the kid's are staying focus, engaging in activities, and asking lots of questions that we have a great deal of an influence on the students learning in the classroom.
Post #2 (September 5, 2014) Because I said So
In this post, it is explaining on how we should explain to the students why they are doing this or that instead of just telling them "Because I said so". Explaining to the student's why this activity is important and how it is connecting as a learning target and also a skill. In this post, Stumpenhorst explain how students are really never explained and told what is the purpose of the activity or then it is an activity or a lesson. We as teacher or future teacher's should be more then happy to explain why we do anything as well as the thought process behind my decision to do it.
My Comment:
I agree! We should be able to explain to the students what we are teaching and why they are doing this or that project. The phrase "because i said so " should be a phrase towards parenting and not in the classroom. As a teacher, you should be able to teach and show your students plenty of examples on the purpose of what we are teaching them. As Stumpenhorst stated before "we shouldn't be doing something if we are not able to explain it"

Project #15 Search Engines
1.WolframAlpha- www.wolframalpha.com
I found this search engine to be the most useful to resources. It can help students with math problems, and checking over there work (something like a study guide, but not use to depend on for accurate answers). This would be great for students because it is like a self tutorial and guidance aide.
2. Bing- www.bing.com
Bing is another known source, kind of compared to Google. You can use Bing as a search engine, look up images, watch videos and various information that is needed.

I remember when this search engine was known as ask Jeeves. You would simply ask this search engine a question It is very useful to people that just want to know a simple a question, and very user friendly.
4. iSeek- www.iseek.com
iSeek is known as a academic search engine that let you break things down into different categories. This search engine allows you to filter by breaking it down into grade levels, school subjects, and also a rating system that allows you to find good quality articles. This search engine is very easy to use, and allow factual information.

Blog Post #4 Asking Questions: What questions do we ask? How do we ask?
Coming up in school, I was the one that the students use to get tired of me asking questions. It was a must that I ask questions and be able to understand what was taught in the classroom. Also, there were times where I just did not bother to ask questions and try to figure it out on my own, which eventually lead me to asking more questions.
Watching the video "Asking better questions in the classroom" by Joanne Chesley, often teachers find that that the students are unresponsive in the classroom. We expect student's to say more then yes, no, uh huh, or I think so. A close ended question, is when an instructor ask a question and the student may respond with either a yes or no, with out any type of explanation. As a teacher we expect more from a student then just one response, instead we get exactly what we ask for when we ask a close end question. If we ask a open ended question, it leads the responded to do more thinking, come up with a variety of responses and also to do more thinking.
The solution to come up with to get more students involved in discussion question is to change a solid question into a open ended one, so the students will do higher level of thinking and lot more brainstorming. "Three ways to ask better questions in the back ground" by Maryellen Weiner
1. Prepare the question, by asking mixed bags of questions, and if I was to look to see if the students was confused I would make sure I rephrase the question again.
2.Play with the question, sometime it is good to leave the question unanswered to give room to the students to use more strategies to think about the question a little more.
3.Preserve good questions, I will make sure I keep good question from students by jotting a few notes about the answered students offered.
The questions that we ask our students determine how we will get an accurate response back from the students. We should make sure we ask a question accurately to get an accurate answer with greater detail and critical thinking from the students.
